Welcome to the Piper + Claire blog.
It’s been a little quiet here—but not behind the scenes.
This space is evolving into a place for guidance, insight, and everything you need to feel prepared for your session.

Meet the B family, and check out their in-home Indianapolis fall family session today! They are a new client of mine and I am just smitten with these guys. Their session was just perfect and took place in their beautiful home with stunning fall colors in the backyard. I love in-home sessions because the memories are so personal and kids are comfortable. These two cuties (5 and 1) were busy and I was definitely sweating by the end of the session – but the end result is worth it!
Enjoy!
One of my favorite things about in-home sessions is documenting families, as they are, doing their favorite things in their own comfy home where children can be themselves and relax. These are the moments you will want to remember one day. Not a perfectly posed portrait.

Would you love an in-home session for your family to document those special details that make you a family? This is one of my favorite types of sessions and I would love to connect with you to begin brainstorming your own unique session. Shoot me an email at gina<at>piperandclaire.com and we will start the planning process! In the meantime, check out more information on my sessions here.
I’m on a mission to empower our tweens and raise confident, strong, healthy and happy young girls and therefore have created a new session offering called Tween Uprising (more on that later, for now – go follow my new instagram page here).
One of the ways I believe we can achieve this is by solidifying the bond between mothers and daughters and a simple way to accomplish this goal is by starting a tween mother-daughter book club to build self esteem and provide tools to help navigate the issues girls face today. This offers a way to spend some special time with your daughter to explore ideas and feelings and encourage meaningful conversation for tricky topics. I believe communication between mothers and daughters has never been more complex or more crucial.
Why start a mother-daughter book club?
Besides the obvious reason of helping build your child’s reading skills and love of books, mother-daughter book clubs have many valuable benefits including:
-providing more challenging books for strong readers
-providing additional practice for weaker readers
-building strong emotional bonds with daughters
-provides a safe place to talk about books without a test or grade afterwards
-social opportunities for mothers
-social opportunities for girls
-addressing important aspects of family life, such as imparting religious values, reinforcing racial identity, or fostering an appreciation for art or music
-helping girls become more confident by providing a safe place for them to express their opinions and use their intelligence, apart from the environment of school where some girls dumb themselves down
OK, I want to hear more about starting my own book club.
Great! Start by downloading our free step by step guide to creating your own mother-daughter book club below. This guide will outline how mothers can join together and proactively shape their daughters sense of self in positive ways despite the obstacles they face during their tween years. You’ll find our best tips to kickstart your group as well as resources for book ideas complete with discussion guides and supplemental activities to steal and use with your own book clubs. We hope this provides a way to overcome issues our tweens are facing through discussions and activities that are engaging, empowering and fun.

As an Indianapolis senior portrait photographer, tween and senior sessions are becoming my favorite and it’s because of amazing client’s like this. Meet Kristin and take a look at her fall session on the blog today! This session took place at the village in Zionsville and also at the bridge. So many great spots for portraits!
This girl had 5 outfit changes and I just love each of the different types of images we were able to create for her. I have a feeling she’s going to have a hard time picking which ones to frame :) We had the perfect fall day and were even able to sneak some pictures of her with her mom and sister too.
From mom:
OH MY GOSH! Gina, your pictures are absolutely gorgeous. Can’t wait to show Kristin! I love them all!
Enjoy!

I love sneaking in some family shots at my senior sessions!

There is something so special about in home newborn photography. I just love the intimate and comfortable environment an in home session creates and I’m always able to capture some of my most authentic and genuine portraits for my clients.
I first photographed this family when mom was expecting her first baby, who is now two! This is their second “watch baby grow” experience with Piper+Claire and I have loved getting to know them and documenting these sweet stages in their lives. They are the perfect client: laid back and go with the flow!
We ventured out to the canal in downtown Indianapolis for mom’s maternity session with baby #2, which was so much fun for their daughter. She was obsessed with the water along the canal, and like most two year olds, had her own plans for the evening!
Big sister had a lot of fun showing me her big girl room and we were able to capture some images of her favorite things!
