My dearest, delightful Emma, How can it be that you are 8 years old? I see the little girl you were in your mischievous smile and the gleam in your eyes, and I see the young lady you are becoming by your physical changes as well as the certainty of your opinions. You are still silly, but are curious more about how the world works and your place in it. You have such confidence in your abilities and are a natural leader and, yet, I still relish the tender times when you need a hug from Mama, or just a little reassurance that all will be OK. One of my favorite recent memories was right after our session with Gina; you and I went to Starbucks and were having an in-depth conversation, so in tune with each other. We caught the attention of an older mom, who came over with tears in her eyes saying how much she loved witnessing this mother-daughter moment, and how much she missed her three grown-up daughters. Her sharing this brought tears to my eyes, too. I know this time is fleeting, and I am so in awe of everything you are and do; I love seeing the world unfold through your eyes and I am so lucky to share your life journey with you.
